In the heart of Norwell, a new candy store and gift shop was taking shape, created to bring a little color and delight to the town center. The owners had purchased the space with a clear vision for something cheerful, welcoming, and just a bit nostalgic, and they hired me to design a website that would capture that spirit online.
The shop was actually a side venture for a former colleague who had recently left her job to pursue real estate with a partner. In the midst of building that new business, they spotted this sweet retail opportunity and decided to bring it to life alongside their property work.
They already had the name and ideas for their logo when they came to me. It had personality and heart, it just needed a bit of refinement to work seamlessly on a website. My role was to elevate it for digital use and design the full site around it. And truly, what fun it is to design a candy store website. It is one of those rare projects where color gets to be unapologetically joyful and every page feels like a small celebration.
Part of the website scope included building a custom vendor database within the content management system, giving the client an easy, organized way to manage their growing list of makers and brands. I structured it so they could log in and add a photo, write a short description, and publish a new vendor profile without touching the design or layout of the site. The framework stayed intact, the visual consistency remained polished, and they had full flexibility to update content as their shelves evolved.
